See the preparation and scope

A garage door takes up a lot of the view from the street. A new finish can make it feel connected to the siding, brickwork and front entrance again.

We review the material, existing finish and condition, then confirm the door face, trim and any details you want included. The work plan covers preparation, protection and when the door can be used.

Door faces & panels

Define the exterior surfaces and panel details to be prepared and painted.

Frame & surrounding trim

List adjoining components separately where they are included.

Illustrative examples to help you plan your project.

A mismatched door to a considered exterior.

The starting point: The door colour feels separate from the siding and entry.

What we can do: We help plan an appropriate colour and define whether the surrounding frame is included for a coordinated result.

A dark door to a softer shade.

The starting point: You want the garage to feel less visually heavy.

What we can do: We prepare the existing coating and allow for the primer and coats needed to cover the dark colour evenly.

Fading and local defects given attention.

The starting point: The door still operates well but the finish looks tired.

What we can do: We assess the surface, include suitable preparation and identify corrosion or damage that needs attention before repainting.

Send a few photos of the full garage door, a close-up of its surface, worn or rusty areas and the surrounding frame. Tell us the result you want, or schedule a site visit so we can review the project with you.

We review the condition, talk through your options and prepare a quote that explains the work.

Confirm the detailsYour colour, scope, access and date.

Before you approve the work, we make sure the details are clear:

  • Colour: your chosen colours, finishes and where each will be used.
  • Scope: preparation, approved repairs and the exact surfaces included.
  • Access: gates, planting, furniture and the route to each work area.
  • Date: the planned start and how weather changes will be handled.

Ask questions and make any changes before we begin, so we are all working toward the same result.

A little thank-you, too. You will receive a gift basket as our way of saying thank you for trusting us with your project.

Your questions, answered.

Can you paint my garage door instead of replacing it?

Yes, if the door is sound, operates properly and its surface is suitable for painting. A repaint can change the colour and refresh the finish. It will not fix damaged panels, tracks or opening mechanisms, so those issues need to be dealt with separately.

Can a dark garage door become white or a lighter colour?

Yes. A suitable primer and finish system can cover a dark colour, with extra coats where required for an even result. We plan the preparation and coverage in your quote rather than assuming the same work for every colour change.

Can I choose black or another dark colour?

Sometimes, but the door material and manufacturer’s guidance matter. Dark colours can create heat concerns on some doors, particularly vinyl. We review the material and coating requirements before confirming a shade so the appearance and product suitability are considered together.

Will the panels, seals or moving parts stick after painting?

We plan the application and drying around the door’s moving sections and protect parts that should not be coated. You will receive instructions about operating the door while the finish is fresh. The aim is a painted door face without interfering with its normal operation.

Can you deal with rust or flaking paint?

Suitable surface preparation can be included for local rust and loose coating. Severe corrosion or damaged panels may need repair or replacement first. Send close-ups so we can distinguish a finishing project from a door that needs a garage-door specialist.

Is the frame included and when can I use the door?

The quote states whether the frame and surrounding trim are included, with their colours. We also explain the planned access and when the door can be operated after coating. Timing depends on the product and conditions, so you receive instructions for your actual project.
