The finish starts with the surface.
Show the grain, change the colour or coordinate the railings. We match the preparation and finish to your deck.
See the preparation and scope
Maybe the colour has faded, the old finish is peeling, or you simply want a different look. A deck refresh can make a familiar outdoor space feel inviting again.
We help you choose a paint or stain that suits your deck, then handle the agreed protection, preparation, finishing and cleanup. Your quote sets out the work, and your crew takes it from there.
From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, you will know what we are doing and who to speak with. You can get on with your day while we get on with your deck.
Show the wood grain
A semi-transparent stain lets more of the grain show through. It works best when the wood can be prepared for a penetrating finish. If the deck is already painted, we will explain the removal work needed before this look is possible.
Change the colour
A solid-colour stain or suitable deck paint creates a more uniform colour. This can be a good direction when you want a bigger change, including taking a dark deck to a lighter shade. We choose a compatible finish and the preparation needed for it.
Bring the details together
Floorboards, stairs, railings, spindles and fascia can all be part of the project. Keep the colour consistent or use a contrasting railing colour. We confirm each surface and colour with you before starting.

Illustrative examples to help you plan your project.
From dark brown to a lighter grey.
The starting point: You like the deck, but its dark colour feels heavy against the house.
What we can do: Prepare the existing finish and use a compatible light-coloured paint or solid stain. A dark-to-light change can take extra preparation and coats for even coverage; we account for that in the quote.
From peeling patches to a fresh surface.
The starting point: The coating is wearing away in busy areas, while other parts still look sound.
What we can do: Clean the surface, remove loose coating and sand where needed before refinishing sound wood. If a board needs repair or replacement, we discuss it with you before it is covered up.
Wood-toned boards. Contrasting railings.
The starting point: You want the warmth of visible wood with a more defined railing colour.
What we can do: Where the floorboards are suitable for a grain-showing stain, pair that finish with a solid colour on the railings and posts. We map out the colours and surfaces together so the details feel intentional.

Your questions, answered.
Can my dark deck be changed to a lighter colour?
Yes. A lighter paint or solid-colour stain can give your deck a completely different look. Changing from dark to light can take extra preparation and coats for even coverage, but it can be done. We include the appropriate coating system in your quote so the colour change is planned from the start.
Can you repaint a deck that is peeling?
Yes, when the wood underneath is sound. We remove loose and peeling coating, clean the surface and sand where needed before applying the new finish. If we find deteriorated boards, we point them out and agree on how they will be addressed before finishing.
Should I choose paint or stain?
Start with the look you want. A semi-transparent stain shows more wood grain; a solid-colour stain gives a more uniform colour while retaining some texture. A previously painted deck may be better suited to a compatible deck paint or solid finish. We explain which options work with your existing surface and help you choose.
Can a painted deck have a natural wood look again?
A natural wood look needs the old paint removed first. Transparent stain cannot show grain through a layer of paint. We check whether stripping and preparation can achieve the result you want, then explain the work and cost so you can compare it with a fresh solid-colour finish.
Can you include the stairs, railings and spindles?
Yes. We can plan the floorboards, stairs, railings, spindles, posts and fascia together. Each included component is listed in the quote, along with any different colours, so you know exactly what will be finished.
Do I need to clean or sand the deck myself?
No, we handle the preparation included in your project. That can include cleaning, removing loose coating and sanding before the finish goes on. Before the start date, we confirm furniture and planter moving, who handles it, and the access the crew needs. You will know what to have ready.
What happens if it rains around the scheduled date?
We coordinate the next suitable work window with you. Exterior coatings need suitable weather and surface conditions. If the weather affects your start or the work in progress, we explain the change and keep you informed about the plan.
When can we use the deck and put the furniture back?
We give you clear instructions before we leave. Light foot traffic and putting furniture back can have different waiting times. We explain both for the finish used on your deck, taking the weather into account, so you can enjoy the result without marking a fresh coating.
