Keep a layout that works. Refresh sound doors and frames with a new colour and a finish suited to your cabinets.
See the preparation and scope
If the cabinet layout works and the doors and frames are sound, a new finish can change how the whole kitchen feels. Lighten dark cupboards, introduce an island colour or bring mismatched pieces together.
We look at the material, existing finish and condition before planning the preparation and coating. The quote identifies the doors, drawer fronts, frames and other surfaces included, so the finished kitchen matches the plan.

Illustrative examples to help you plan your project.
Dark cabinets to a soft white.
The starting point: You like the layout but want the cupboards to feel lighter.
What we can do: We prepare the existing finish and plan the primer and coating needed for the new colour. Dark-to-light changes can need extra coats for even coverage.
A contrasting island with coordinated cabinets.
The starting point: You want the island to stand out without changing the rest of the kitchen.
What we can do: We specify the island colour separately from the surrounding cabinets and confirm exactly which doors, panels and frames belong to each finish.
New colour with refreshed hardware.
The starting point: The cabinet finish and old handles both feel dated.
What we can do: We confirm whether handles are staying or changing and whether old holes need filling before painting. The agreed hardware work is listed in the quote.

Before you approve the work, we make sure the details are clear:
- Colour: your chosen colours, finishes and where each will be used.
- Scope: preparation, approved repairs and the exact surfaces included.
- Access: cupboard contents, work areas and any spaces you need to keep using.
- Date: the planned start, work sequence and any access or drying periods.
Ask questions and make any changes before we begin, so we are all working toward the same result.

Review the finished workA walkthrough and a little thank-you.
Walk through the finished work with your site lead or crew. We review the agreed surfaces together, listen to your feedback and take care of the touch-ups needed to complete the job.
We explain when you can use the finished surfaces normally and how to care for them. We want you to feel happy with the result before we wrap up.
A little thank-you, too. You will receive a gift basket as our way of saying thank you for trusting us with your project.
Your questions, answered.
Can dark or black cabinets be painted a light colour?
Yes. Dark cabinets can be painted white or another light colour. It may take extra preparation, primer and coats to achieve even coverage, but it can be done. We include the coating approach in the quote so the colour change is planned from the start.
Do I have to replace my cabinets to get a new look?
No, if the cabinets are sound and you are happy with the layout. Painting changes the finish while keeping the existing units. It will not correct swollen panels, failed doors or a layout that does not work; we point out those issues before you commit to refinishing.
Can you paint laminate or previously painted cabinets?
Often, yes, when the surface is sound and compatible preparation and coatings can be used. Peeling laminate, loose previous paint or water damage need attention first. Share a close-up of the material and worn areas so we can confirm the right approach for your cabinets.
Will the wood grain disappear?
Colour can change completely while grain texture still shows. If you want a smoother appearance on a strongly grained wood such as oak, tell us before quoting. Grain filling is additional preparation and should be discussed explicitly; ordinary painting should not be described as a perfectly flat factory surface.
Are the insides, shelves and cabinet frames included?
Only the surfaces listed in your quote are included, and we go through them with you. Door fronts, backs, drawer fronts, frames, end panels and interiors can have different requirements. Tell us which areas you want changed so there are no assumptions about the finished scope.
Can I still use the kitchen during the work?
Expect some disruption while surfaces are prepared and coated. We agree on the work sequence, access and what needs to be emptied or cleared, and explain when parts of the kitchen will be unavailable. The plan depends on your project; we do not promise full kitchen use throughout.
Can I change the handles at the same time?
Yes, we can discuss that as part of the scope. Choose the replacement hardware before preparation, especially if the hole spacing changes. We confirm filling, drilling and installation responsibilities in advance, so old fixing positions do not become an afterthought on newly painted doors.
How soon can I clean and use the cabinets normally?
We give you instructions for the actual coating used. A surface can feel dry before it has fully hardened, so early use needs care. We explain when to resume cleaning, how to treat fresh doors gently and what products to avoid during the initial curing period.
